If you live in a small space and are looking to optimize your TV viewing experience, you may consider mounting your TV on your wall instead of buying a TV stand, which can clutter up your living room. Even if you have a good-sized room, many people choose to get the full home theater experience by mounting their flat-screen televisions. It’s an attractive and easy way to display your TV for optimal viewing.
Wall mounts are used to hold the TV on the wall and secure it so that it doesn’t fall. There are typically three kinds:
- Low-profile TV wall mounts are the easiest and cheapest to install. They are as easy to install as a picture of the same size as your TV would be to hang. The problem with low-profile mounts is that you can’t adjust the TV once you’ve hung it.
- Tilting wall mounts are the next option, and they have a pivot in the base of the mount that allows the TV to tilt for optimal viewing. They are slightly harder to install, but still go on the wall fairly easily. Ceiling TV brackets also fall into this category. A TV hung from the ceiling allows more range of motion.
- A full-motion wall mount is perhaps the most expensive and the hardest to install, but it allows full range of motion, which makes it a must for some rooms. These wall mount brackets allow you to move the TV away from the wall so that you can turn it in any direction you’d like.
What to Look for in a Wall Mount
When you have decided on the type of TV wall brackets you’re looking for, you need to ensure that you understand the installation instructions. It might be a good idea to ask the retailer that you’re buying the TV from if they will install the wall mount for you. Most TV mounting brackets come with relatively easy installation instructions, though.
Optional Features to Consider
See if there are TV brackets specifically designed for your television. Often, certain mounts are recommended for certain TVs to give the consumer an idea of what sort of mount their TV will safely hang on. If there isn’t a specific one, your electronics retailer should be able to recommend one that will work for your TV.
